I've been wanting to make a homemade pizza dough for quite a while now and I found a really easy recipe that came together very quickly. I wanted to share it with you!
The one thing I've learned is that having the right tools makes cooking and baking so much easier. With that said, having a stand mixer in this situation makes the idea of baking bread or making any other kind of dough a little bit easier on you.
Let's get started!
You'll start by adding one packet of yeast to half a cup of warm water which needs to be at a temperature between 100 to 110°F. After a few minutes add 1 teaspoon of sugar and half cup of flour. Mix this up and let sit for about 15 minutes covered with plastic wrap. The dough will bubble and rise to about twice the size.
In the stand mixer with dough hook attached, you'll start with 2 1/2 cups of flour and add your yeast mixture to that, along with 2 teaspoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Start mixing on low speed.
If the dough is too dry you can add up to 3/4 of a cup of warm water and if it becomes too sticky you will add more flour while it mixes in the stand mixer. You want to have the dough come together in a ball that's not too dry, not too sticky. Let it mix for 10 minutes on low.
When it's well incorporated and kneaded, take the dough ball in your floured hands and place it into a bowl that is oiled with extra virgin olive oil. Turn it over once or twice and coat it with olive oil and then cover it with a plastic wrap.
Let it sit in warm spot until doubled, for about two hours. You can also refrigerate it and bring it to room temperature the following day.
When you're ready to use the dough, roll or stretch it out into your desired thickness. Top with your pizza toppings and bake for 10 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness of your dough.
